Profile Summary

In EMEA, the Sustainability Strategy Team develops and supports the execution of the EMEA Sustainability Strategy, including business strategy, risk management, reporting and disclosures, policy and regulation, culture and education, and managing our own operational carbon footprint. The team works closely with different teams across EMEA, with the aim of enhancing Mizuho's capabilities to support clients in their transition journey.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the team with the development and execution of the Sustainability Strategy for the EMEA region, aligned with Mizuho Financial Group Sustainability Strategy and Net Zero targets.
  • Maintain, update and develop Sustainability Dashboards and MI across Risk, Business and Operational aspects.
  • Maintain, and enhance complex monitoring spreadsheets, including multi‑tab models used to calculate financed emissions and other sustainability metrics
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and auditability of sustainability datasets, applying advanced Excel capabilities (e.g., Power Query, pivot modelling, macros, scenario modelling).
  • Support the preparation of relevant Sustainability Committees / Forums / Working Groups, including supporting materials and action logs.
  • Track developments across regulations and standards covering sustainability disclosures, transition planning, governance, climate- and nature-related risk, and other pertinent themes.
  • Work closely with Mizuho EMEA’s risk and regulatory teams to ensure compliance with Climate and Sustainability regulatory requirements for assessment, monitoring and disclosures.
  • Support with the design, development and delivery of staff sustainability education initiatives.
  • Contribute to thematic research and analysis on sustainability trends
  • Support the delivery of external sustainability communications, including investor and corporate client sustainability due diligence questionnaires and website content.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Great organisational and time management skills
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Advanced capabilities to handle Excel and complex spreadsheets
  • Sound knowledge of the Banking Industry
  • Ability to develop new skills and build product knowledge
  • Collaborative nature to contribute to a successful team performance
  • At least 2 years of relevant work experience involving preparation of presentation and briefings for senior level committees
  • Language skills are an asset, but not essential
