Profile Summary
This is a senior origination and structuring role within the Securitisation product team within Mizuho EMEA’s CIB Structured Financing Group (CSF). CSF is a product team in charge of origination, structuring and execution of a broad range of structured finance transactions, in partnership with client facing Relationship Managers and other product teams.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of the Securitisation business strategy, working closely with the Team Head
- Originate, structure, negotiate and execute complex Securitised Products transactions
- Develop and maintain senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and representing the Bank in the market
- Take overall responsibility for transaction structuring, ensuring transactions are designed to meet client requirements while achieving the Bank’s risk and return objectives
- Lead the preparation and presentation of credit applications to ensure risks associated with customers’ credit status, industry development and structural aspect of transactions are identified, fully outlined, and mitigated as far as possible
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across existing and prospective clients
- Lead marketing and syndication activities for client transactions where appropriate
- Support the Team Head in managing the Securitisation business, including resource allocation, pipeline management and strategic initiatives
- Provide leadership, coaching and development support to junior staff
- Support the ongoing management and monitoring of executied transactions, in conjunction with CBD2
- The role involves interaction with a wide range of counterparties including major clients, and must be certified under the UK SMCR regime
- The role holder must also become comprehensively aware of the implications for the role under Japanese FSA regulations
- Credit & Exposure risk – Ensure risks associated with transaction structures and counterparties are appropriately identified, assessed and mitigated
- Execution risk – lead transactions to successful execution while maintaining client and stakeholder confidence
- Reputational risk – protect and enhance the Bank’s reputation by ensuring transactions are appropriately structured, executable and delivered in line with client expectations
- Regulatory / Compliance risk – ensure adherence to all applicable regulatory, legal and compliance requirements
- Operational risk – maintain robust controls, governance and risk management practices across all business activities
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills
- Proven ability to develop a network of relationships with senior management, credit, clients and key internal stakeholders
- Strong commercial awareness and business development capability
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Advanced numerical and analytical skills, including financial modelling
- Strong documentation skills
- Strong structuring skills to scope underlying credit risk profile and adequately mitigate risk
- Collaborative approach and ability to work effectively across product, coverage and control functions to contribute to a successful team performance
- Advanced computer literacy and data manipulation / presentation skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience coaching, developing and mentoring junior team members
- Substantial experience in securitisation and structured finance, with a demonstrated track record of originating, structuring and executing complex transactions, developing senior client relationships, generating revenue and leading transaction teams across the full transaction lifecycle, including amendments, waivers and portfolio management activities
Desirable:
- Master’s degree or higher-level post-graduate degree e.g. PhD, MBA.
- Professional finance qualification
- One or more Continental European or relevant Asian languages
