Profile Summary

 

To be a main driver of the Risk Collateral Management Team (“RCMT”) team that provides a robust control environment in supporting the Trade Finance business, to protect the bank from risks associated with this business, ensure compliance with internal and external regulations and deliver superior customer service.

 

RCMT provides the link between the Customer and operations ensuring compliance with credit approvals and exposure control. The role is a blend of risk control and customer service. This role is key to the business as it is the backbone of the customer delivery arrangements.

 

This role is one of “control, co-ordination and delivery”, It is vital that the person undertaking the role has very detailed product knowledge and the confidence to stand ground under pressure from customers and internally. The role is to support growth in sales by proactive customer service – at the same time respecting absolutely the banks’ exposure limits. The role calls for strength of character to ensure compliance in a fast moving and busy environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • The preparation (for approval) of internal applications and/or facility utilisation request forms for Corporate and Banking transactions.
  • Escalates and continually check for any excess of facility limits/shortfall of collateral.
  • Provide assistance to the Head of RCMT, Directors within RCMT as and when required.
  • Liaise directly with customers on facility operation, including quoting for and concluding new business and rejecting transactions (where transactions do not met acceptable criteria). Monitoring utilisation of credit facilities daily to ensure usage and transactions are within approved parameters.
  • Ties the import and export leg of transactions to manage exposures and matching of deals
  • Support the set up and continued renewal of credit facilities, documentation and on boarding of clients.
  • Continuously review and reconcile portfolio of transactions to ensure bank is not exposed to additional risks and to protect income by ensuring correct tariff applied and fee collection
  • Liaise with relevant internal departments to achieve booking and lodging of GTBD transactions and documentation.
  • Prepares and provides periodic reports to management and/or Risk as and when needed (e.g. excess reports, position statements, marked-to-market reports, review expiry dates).
  • To assist with projects and ad hoc tasks that further advance the abilities and scope of the Team.

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

 

  • High level of industry/product/specialist expertise and experience of trade practices and products especially relating to rules governing transactions (UCP, URR, URC, ISP, ISBP etc.)
  • Knowledge of loan products and the Bank’s internal rules and procedures
  • Elementary knowledge of AML and KYC procedures and processes.
  • Compliance with the regulatory framework (Senior Manager and Certified staff regime where appropriate, as well as Mizuho and FCA Codes of Conduct).
  • Ability to stand ground under pressure from customers, banks and from within to protect the banks interest.   
  • Team- working and communication skills

  • Ability to use initiative and work under pressure
  • Computer literacy including advanced Excel skills  
  • Awareness of market risk, operational risk and how these dynamics affect trading companies and how they appear in the mechanics of any trade
  • Ability to articulate reasons to make change (systems and procedures)
  • Ability to deliver on process change
  • Track record of delivering business results
