Profile Summary

 

Lead and develop the IT Project Standards & Assurance function, ensuring it provides effective governance, quality assurance, project control standards and independent challenge across the project and programme portfolio.

 

The role is responsible for defining what good looks like in project delivery, establishing standard methodologies, governance controls and assurance practices and ensuring projects are managed consistently across the organisation. Working closely with PMO, project managers and IT leadership, the role will improve delivery quality, governance maturity and executive confidence in portfolio execution.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and evolve the Project Standards & Assurance function.
  • Define and embed standard project delivery methodologies, controls and governance frameworks.
  • Own project lifecycle standards, stage gates, assurance reviews and governance requirements.
  • Establish project quality standards, governance controls and minimum delivery expectations.
  • Conduct project health checks, quality reviews and assurance assessments.
  • Drive consistency in RAID management, dependency management and governance reporting.
  • Challenge delivery teams where standards, controls or governance requirements are not being met.
  • Maintain assurance reporting and portfolio quality dashboards.
  • Drive continuous improvement across project and programme delivery practices.
  • Influence stakeholders and drive adoption of standardised project delivery approaches.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

  • Proven experience implementing project governance and assurance frameworks.
  • Strong project, programme or PMO leadership experience.
  • Experience designing and operating stage gate processes.
  • Experience conducting project assurance or quality reviews.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio governance and delivery controls.

 

Key Behaviours and Competencies:

  • Experience influencing senior stakeholders and driving behavioural change.
  • Demonstrable track record of improving delivery consistency and governance maturity.
  • The successful candidate will bring experience from mature PMO and portfolio environments and will be expected to raise standards, challenge existing practices and deliver measurable improvements across project governance, delivery quality and assurance
