Profile Summary
Energy, Power & Resources is the largest sector cluster within the Corporate & Investment Bank. As CIB EMEA delivers it’s growth plan, a critical element is the accelerated development of Investment Banking Revenues, particularly in M&A/Advisory, DCM, ECM and Fixed Income. The primary focus for the incumbent is to deliver a high intensity of IB sector coverage, pitching and idea generation, in coordination with specialists across MHFG’s global platform, including Greenhill, Augusta & Co and Banking/Markets teams. A deep specialism and demonstrable sector coverage experience across the Energy and/or Natural Resources value chain is essential.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage and develop the IB dialogue for existing and prospective global client relationships across the London and select European portfolio. Work in tandem with sector head and senior country coverage bankers in Continental Europe where relevant.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues and drivers of the sector in the context of client strategies and support the efforts to establish MHFG in advisory roles and sector leadership.
- Oversee content creation and delivery at a high level of intensity, working closely with advisory partners across the firm.
- Manage strategic financing workstreams, including credit and portfolio risk management and returns monitoring.
- Coordinate global coverage and ensure timely sharing of client information, business development activity and pipeline with global teams.
- Manage the development of junior resource, including product knowledge, financial modelling quality control, and content delivery.
- Adhere to the Dual Hat Policies & Procedures when acting in a dual hat capacity for the corporate bank (Mizuho Bank (MHBK)) and the investment bank (Mizuho International (MHI)).
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in Investment & Corporate Banking sector coverage
- Established network across Energy / Natural Resources sectors
- Advisory-led, client focussed and problems/solutions orientated, with strong origination and execution capabilities
- Strong financial modelling and valuation skills
- Able to anticipate and move fast, work in an agile manner and must be a creative thinker.
- Collaborator and team player with excellent communication skills.
- Experience in managing global client relationships
- University Degree or equivalent
- CFA or equivalent preferred but not essential
- European language skills are beneficial
