Profile Summary

 

The successful candidate will join the Client and Capital Strategy team within the Portfolio Strategy (PS) function, with responsibilities for portfolio optimisation and deal-level RORA advisory to facilitate strategic decision making and optimise risk, return and distribution outcomes across EMEA.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Support portfolio optimisation and structuring efforts, translating analytical insights into executable actions across sell‑downs, CRI solutions, and broader distribution or risk‑transfer strategies. Partner closely with Front Office, LCM and ESD to drive capital efficiency and risk optimisation.
  • Support C&CS ownership and governance of EMEA Banking’s Axe List, ensuring prioritisation, status tracking and execution milestones remain accurate and up to date. Work proactively with Coverage, Product and Distribution teams to progress actions and unlock execution.
  • Play a central role in the Non‑Core process, shaping strategies that improve EMEA Banking portfolio returns, optimise capital usage, and support disciplined balance‑sheet stewardship.
  • Provide high‑quality insights to inform portfolio decisions, including exposure dynamics, limit utilisation/headroom, and capital‑intensive or non‑core positions. Produce concise, decision‑ready materials for senior stakeholders.
  • Shape and contribute to the development of Portfolio Strategy tools, including dashboards, automation and analytics, to enhance transparency on distribution pipelines, execution progress and economic optimisation choices (e.g., sell‑down vs CRI).
  • Support central Front Office Business Committee decisions, contributing to profitability assessments and strategic decision‑making.
  • Enable the RORA Advisory mandate as the EMEA Banking Centre of Excellence, owning core profitability methodologies and standards. Provide expert guidance on return drivers and sensitivities, and uplift Front Office capability to ensure a consistent “returns language” across products and business areas.
  • Drive scalable, accurate deal‑level RORA processes and controls, including modeller accreditation workflows, calibration/back‑testing routines, and standardised methodologies across business areas to support the central Front Office Approval Committee.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 

  • 7 years of experience in banking
  • Relevant technical degree-level education with a preference toward accounting / financial and / or mathematical disciplines.
  • Strong numerical and financial skills with the ability to interpret financial information, and design and use financial models.
  • Knowledge of banking products, financial markets, regulatory requirements
  • Strong communication skills, including drafting of procedures, presentation materials, and other necessary documents.
  • Advanced excel skills with the ability to efficiently manipulate data.
  • Strong team player, confident self-starter with excellent communication skills
