Profile Summary

 

The Associate will play a key role in supporting the Reference Data Team within Mizuho EMEA Corporate Services Operations, ensuring the efficient execution of business-as-usual (BAU) activities. Working closely with the line manager, the Associate will help manage BAU processes, monitor task completion, and maintain high-quality reference data across Mizuho International and Mizuho Bank. This position requires a solid understanding of reference data processes and the ability to identify and recommend cost-effective improvements while maintaining robust risk controls. The Associate will work independently on BAU responsibilities, collaborate with stakeholders, and contribute to process enhancements and projects that drive operational efficiency.

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Reference Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate and high-quality reference data across London Branch and European Office systems in conjunction with AML/KYC client documentation verification.
  • Register new customers and related product, settlement, and regulatory attributes across all relevant systems.
  • Approve and maintain Standard Settlement Instructions for FX, MM, Derivative products.
  • Control updates of internal trading limits and base/fixing rates across branches.

 

Workflow Execution:

  • Monitor and execute reference data instructions from incoming workflows within agreed SLAs.
  • Identify and resolve anomalies, collaborating with business lines and project teams to ensure positive outcomes.

 

Stakeholder Engagement & Process Improvement:

  • Build strong relationships with internal clients to drive process improvements.
  • Support Data Admin, AML Firco, and CLM teams with projects and ad hoc tasks within Shared Services.
  • Manage queries effectively and respond promptly to stakeholders.

 

Team Support & Development:

  • Help the team manager in supporting daily task completion and monitoring.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to less experienced team members to help them develop skills and strengthen team capability.
  • Work independently to manage BAU tasks efficiently and accurately.

 

Operational Excellence:

  • Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform checker role and ensure accuracy in BAU daily tasks.

 

 

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience within operations and reference data.
  • Strong understanding of financial instruments (FX/MM).
  • Understanding of Credit limits.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
  • Customer-centric approach with proven experience in client service.
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate, support change, and solve problems effectively.
  • Collaborative team player with a focus on achieving shared goals.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in data manipulation and presentation.
  • Previous supervisory experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products; experience with Murex, Gloss, SharePoint, Midas Fusion, and Power Automate is a plus.
